The Indian Creek Ag Department is open to any student who wishes to learn more about the agriculture industry. We offer a variety of class from Ag Mechanics to Veterinary Technology. In these classes, the students will experience real-world scenarios mixed with hands-on activities and units. The students will never be bored in the agriculture room!

Introduction to Agriculture

1st Year Offering for students

 

During the first year in agricultural education, the students will learn the basics of the agriculture industry. This first year in the ag classroom, the students will walk through what FFA is and the basics of parliamentary procedure and animal systems. They will also get their first look into the Ag Mechanics and shop safety. Each student will be required to start a SAE Project (record book) to complete their first year of records. The students will learn these skills through hands-on activities and vigorous discussions.

Floral Design (Horticulture)

Prerequisite: Intro to Ag

Students learn about the Horticulture industry from plant identification to how a floral shop functions on a daily basis. They will learn the careers opportunities offered and how to achieve those dreams. The students will learn different styles and flowers to use in situations where floral arrnagements are requested. They will physcially make various arrangements and be responsible for obtaining some materials for other projects which are seen in floral shops. They will get a hands-on approach and real-world ideals of owning and operating a floral shop.

Basic Agricultural Mechanics

Prerequisite: Intro to Ag

 

This is the first year of agricultural mechanics that is offered to the students at Indian Creek. The students will perform various shop activities: ARC welding, torch cutting, woodworking, basic engines. Each student in the course will perform proper shop safety each and every day in the agriculture shop. This course is designed to prepare students for Advanced Agricultural Mechanics or career readiness in their immediate futures.

Veterinary Technology

Prerequisite: Intro to Ag

 

This full year course is offered to all students who have completed the first year of Introduction to Agriculture. This course will walk the students through each system of an animal and human. They will learn the bones, muscles, heart and digestion of an animal. They will learn about various career pathways within the animal science aspect of agriculture. These students will learn the human and animal body through projects, hands-on activities and classic methods of agricultural education.

Advanced Agricultural Mechanics

Prerequisite: Introduction to Ag and Basic Ag Mechanics

 

This full year course is offered to students in their third or fourth year in the agriculture department. These students will learn the basics of Arc and MIG welding, as well as a wood project and basic electricity knowledge. The students gain a real world application by working through an OSHA approved workbook to learn safety. These students will leave the course with a better understanding of what is needed of them in today's workforce.
